Obituary for Ervin Oliver "Ernie" Booth Jr.

Ervin “Ernie” Oliver Booth Jr. passed away on the morning of December 27, 2009 at his home in Glenville, NC after being homebound the past 23 months. Born in Jersey City, NJ on August 1, 1930. He graduated from Westwood High School in New Jersey in 1950. He served in the Navy for four years as a welder on the USS Sierra. He moved to Delray Beach, Fl where he married Cynthia Merritt (deceased). He worked for Florida Power and Light Company for 35 years and retired. He also managed valet parking concessions at local restaurants, had a lawn maintenance business and sold Christmas trees. He served as a deacon and head usher at First Baptist Church in Florida. He was a former Sunday school teacher and taught R.A’s. He relocated to his summer home in Glenville, NC and joined South Macon Baptist Church in Franklin, NC.
Ernie is survived by his son, Ervin D. Booth III and wife Kristi of Glenville, NC. His daughter, Melanie Kibler of Duluth, GA; grandchildren, Tamara Kibler and husband Fabian Villarreal, Hannah Marie Booth and Joshua William Booth and great grandson, Luke Corbin Villarreal all of Glenville, NC; nieces, Debbie Montbriand DePaola and Doreen Montbriand Sadler of Milton, NY.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Albert Grey will officiate. Burial will be in the Booth Family and Friends Cemetery in Glenville, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Fabian Villarreal, Truman Rogers, Cayenne Kruse and Brian Hylton.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
