Emily Lucile Cloer, 88, of Franklin, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Claude Hammett and Lillie-Bell Lowe Hammett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Daniel Webster Cloer Sr. who passed away November 11, 1987; a brother, Marvin G. Hammett; daughter-in-law, Rita Mathis and granddaughter, Brittany Elaine Cloer. Emily received a college degree from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Religious Education in Louisville, KY. She loved to read, draw and work with the church. She was a member of Centerpoint Community Fellowship in Franklin.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel W. Cloer Jr. of Franklin, and David W. Cloer and wife Diane of Spartanburg, SC; a daughter, Carol Cloer of Franklin; a sister, Mable Hammett McKorkle of Spartanburg, SC and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Jones and husband Chris, Matt Cloer, Daniel W. Cloer III and Kaitly Annette Cloer.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Bernie Calloway and Rev. Carol Cloer will officiate.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, June 11 at Westwood Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Rev. Bob Morgan will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 9, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Corbin, Ron Butts, Dan Cloer, Tyler Butts, Tyler Higdon and Joshua Corbin.
