Obituary for Elizabeth Mason (Franklin)

Elizabeth Franklin Mason passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, in Asheville after a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Delos Coy and Lenora Carden Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clarence Eugene Mason and one brother, Glenn Franklin.

Elizabeth is survived by two sons, Todd Mason and Barry Mason, both of Franklin; two sisters, Nancy Bates of Bristol, VA and Kay McCabe of Hoover, AL; two brothers, Cecil Franklin of Sylva and Joe Clyde Franklin of Kalispell, MT as well as many friends in the community.

She retired from the Macon County school system after many years of service. Elizabeth was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church where she attended faithfully and was treasurer for her Sunday school class. She was active in several community organizations and committees. Her greatest accomplishment and commitment was that of a wife and mother with enduring qualities that will never be forgotten.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Dusek officiated. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Capital Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.

Macon Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
