Obituary for Elda Ledford Womack (Ledford)

Elda Ledford  Womack (Ledford)
Elda Ledford Womack, 93, passed away after a brief illness on April 28, 2008 in Charlotte, NC. She was born February 27, 1915 in the Burningtown section of Macon county. Elda was the daughter of Fred and Dora Poindexter Ledford. Mrs. Womack was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Reid Womack, brothers Lee, Crawford, Howard and Bob Ledford and sisters Annie Triplett and Betty Clontz.
Elda loved to garden and grew beautiful flowers, she was a seamstress and loved to crochet. In her early years she ran her husbands Esso station while he served his country in WWII. She later worked in retail sales. She was also a member and volunteer of the First Baptist Church in Franklin, American Legion Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
Mrs. Womack is survived by two sons, Bob and wife Judy of Dallas, TX and Bill and wife Raye of Charlotte, NC; two grandsons, Rob and wife Allison of Los Angeles, CA and Jeffrey of Charlotte, NC and a great-grandson, Reid of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by four brothers, Hershel Ledford and John Ledford of Charlotte, Clinton Ledford of Franklin and Jack Ledford of Wilmington, NC; one sister, Virginia Mason of Mansfield, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Macon Funeral Home in the chapel on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Franklin, NC. Burial will be at the Woodlawn cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. one hour prior to the service.
