Obituary for Edward William Nelson

Edward William Nelson, 38, of Fort Drum, New York, former resident of Staten Island, New York, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2006.

A native of Staten Island, NY, he was the son of Edward E. and Roberta Nelson of Franklin. In 1986 he was awarded the Eagle Scout Badge. Eddie was a Drill Sergeant in Fort Jackson for three years; and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and many other accommodations. He was a Sergeant 1st Class in the US Army serving two tours in Bosnia, one tour in Korea and one tour in Iraq.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary C. Nelson of Ft. Drum, NY; two children, Savanna Clair Nelson and Edward Sean Nelson both of the home; and one brother, Scott Nelson and wife, Alice of Franklin.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 23, at Holly Springs Baptist Church Chapel. Chaplain Benjamin Duncan of the 82nd Airborne Fort Bragg will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 22, at Macon Funeral Home.

Members of the Fort Bragg Funeral Detail will serve as Pallbearers.
