Obituary for Edith Brown Ammons (Brown)

Edith Brown  Ammons (Brown)
Edith Brown Ammons, 85, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

Born in Macon Co., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Brown and Lura McClure. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Ammons who died in 2001; a daughter, Barbara Janet Ammons; two sisters, Merle Carpenter and Mertis Long and a brother, Woodrow Brown. Edith loved cooking, sewing quiltin and was an avid gardener. She worked many years at Callahan’s Department Store; loved people and bluegrass music. She was a member of Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, James Hazen Ammons and wife Katherine Hollifield of Franklin and Bobby Frank Ammons and wife Carolyn Faust of Franklin; two granddaughters, Christy Ammons Ashe and husband Rev. Keith Ashe of Cullowhee and Candice Lee Ammons Lowe and husband Rev. Phillip Lowe and two great grandchildren, Madison and Hunter Lowe.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Reverends Roy Lowe, Keith Ashe and Philip Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in the Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Ammons, Bobby Ammons, Charles Shuler, Clyde McCall, Lewis Ashe and LeRoy Pressley.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
