Obituary for Douglas McArthur Posey

Douglas MacArthur Posey, 67, of 59 Delightful Drive, Franklin, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010.

A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Alfred Henry Posey and Martha Alice Moore Posey. Douglas was an active member of Tellico Baptist Church as well as Chairman of the deacons, church treasurer and choir leader. He worked at Belden Wire and Cable for 30 some years of which he also retired.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Barbara McGaha Posey; a son, Tony Douglas Posey; a daughter, Sheila Ann Posey; a great grandchild of the home, Logan Ava Posey; a brother, Alfred Lee “Cotton” Posey; four sisters, Joyce Starr, Etta Breedlove, Gearline Allen and Barbara Grooms; four grandchildren, Douglas Posey, Austin Posey, Melissa Rangel and Portcia Hall; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Tellico Baptist Church. Rev. Gary McCoy and Rev. Morris Tippett will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 21 at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Austin Posey, Larry Sutton, Owen Nix, Todd McGaha, Mike Teague and T.J. Guffie.

Rup Wood and Chad Welch will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
