Obituary for Douglas MacArthur "Doug" Crisp

Douglas MacArthur "Doug"  Crisp
Douglas MacArthur Crisp, 68, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Born in Macon Co., he was the son of the late Fred L. Crisp Sr. and Hessie Rachael Grant Crisp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Crisp; three sisters, Hazel Hylton, Marie Smith and Joyce Stiwinter and a brother, Troy Crisp Sr. Doug was a US Navy Veteran and served on the USS Enterprise. He was a member of the American Legion Post 108, VFW Post 7339 and VVA Chapter 994. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue Jones Crisp of Franklin; two daughters, Renee Parker and husband Bryan of Otto and Rhonda Watson and husband Michael of Sylva; two brothers, Fred L. Crisp Jr. and Gene Crisp both of Franklin; three sisters, Blanche Younce, Gladys Gibson and Shirley Hodgins all of Franklin and four grandchildren, Josh Parker, Mitchel Green, Bridget Sanders and Alisha Crisp.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Dryman and Rev. Tim Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Windy Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by VVA Chapter 994.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, Josh Parker, Gary Crisp, Jimmy Crisp and Mitchel Green.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
