Obituary for Dennis Freeman

Dennis Freeman, 80, of Franklin, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007.

A native of Swain County, NC, he was the son of the late Rev. John Freeman and Virgie Tabor Freeman. He was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, Joe, W.C. and Spurgeon and a sister, Clover Steele. Dennis was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church serving as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Men's Teacher.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline Simons Freeman; one daughter, Rhonda Freeman of Franklin; two sisters, Bill and husband Wiff of Bryson City and Ann Bowers and husband Carl of Bryson City; brother, Rev. Roger Freeman and wife Sue of Manassas, VA; sister-in-laws, Wilda Freeman of Fossil, Oregon and Grace Freeman of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 12, at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Wesley Hooper, Rev. Andy Cloer and Rev. Charles Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joe Allen, Joe Allen, Jr., Don Burch, Darrell Gravitt, Dewey Houston, Alan Shepherd.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Elmore, Dorsey Elmore, Les Vickers, Lloyd Allen and Ralph Hall.

Memorial donations may be made to the Angel Hospice Foundation, PO Box 815, Franklin, NC 28744.
