Obituary for David J. Johnson

David J. Johnson, 75, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord in his sleep, Thursday, January 10, 2008.
Born in Marianna, FL, he was the son of the late Rushia White Lusk. Dave received his BA degree from Anderson College, Anderson IN in 1955 and his MA degree from Florida International University, Miami, FL in 1981. He was teacher and coach at Licking Valley High School, Newark, OH from 1958-1959; Minister of Christian Education at First Church of God, Charleston, West VA from 1959-1962; and math teacher, coach and business manager at Dade County Public Schools from 1962-1989. Dave and Penny moved to the NC mountains in 1989 after retiring from teaching in Homestead, Fl. Dave did many volunteer activities in his 18 years of retirement. He was an elder and Sunday School Teacher at First Alliance Church. For many years Dave and Penny taught Bible in the elementary schools in Macon County.
He is survived by his wife Penny Johnson; two children, David B. Johnson and wife, Jackie and Scott Johnson and wife, Kathy; Sister-in-law, Colleen Vencil and husband, Will.
No Services are planned.
