Obituary for Darlena Faye Gibbs

Darlena Faye Gibbs of Franklin NC passed away on March 14, 2020 in a peaceful state and in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the Solace Center in Asheville NC. Faye was a church member of Pump Springs Baptist Church of Harrogate TN and more recently a patron of Deep Creek Baptist Church in Bryson City NC.
Preceded in death by John Leslie Gibbs, her dad; Juanita Gibbs, mother; Paris Ann Gibbs, Sister; Cecil Gibbs, brother; Sheila Gibbs Miracle, sister. Faye is survived by lifelong mom and best friend Joanne Gibbs Miracle; James Miracle, Step-Dad; AC and Betty Gibbs, brother; Jim Gibbs, brother; Johnny and Vicki Gibbs, brother; Bette Gibbs Collins and Bob Collins, sister; Betty Jo Gibbs, sister-in-law; Eddy Miracle, brother-in-law; and Chris and Becky Gibbs, brother; and a HOST of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Special nieces, nephews and family are Davey and Tiffany Gibbs; Krista Gibbs; Whitney Gibbs; Brooke Gibbs Martin and Casey Martin; Dallas Benson Gibbs; Annsley Kate McDaniels Gibbs; Jeremy and Alesha Brooks; Lauren and Casey Wilson; Landon, Rhyan Elizabeth, Brody Gibbs and Rhaelyn Barnett; Erica Robertson and Bruce and Randall Cowan.
There are several special family that cherished time with and cared for Faye at various times of life, specifically Jack, Jennifer, Kayla, and Millie Hart; Kyle and Susie Viars; Jenny Watkins Cain of Corbin; Steve Barton of Corbin; Paula Lynn Sams of Middlesboro; Sarah Taylor of Knoxville; Starla Ray and Lisa Gibbs, sister-in-laws; Billie Jean Johnston of Harrogate; Mary Margaret Stacy (Mimi) of Pineville; Sally (Mamaw) and Randy Fletcher of Tazewell; Audrey (Aunt) and Jim Barnard of Tazewell; Anna McDaniels of Middlesboro; and Susan Benson of Ocean Springs MS.
Faye moved to the home of Brother Chris in 2010 where she had the opportunity to be free of her Grandmal seizures through the medical treatment of Dr. Sam Kabbani (Neurologist and Friend of Chris) and enter school at the young age of 68. Through school she was able to experience many exciting challenges she missed in her youth and to develop friends on her own , as well as to become a mentor to many fellow students. Faye has enjoyed her retirement years roaming the Western Carolina Communities of Bryson City, Cherokee, Sylva and Franklin NC. Chris and Becky would like to extend their personal thank you to the many medical, government, church and family friends that impacted the final earthly years of Faye (Better known as Big Sis). Chris and Becky extend the deepest gratitude and thanks’ to the trauma center at Mission Health and Solace Center - Hospice in Asheville NC; and Brian and the gang at the Macon Funeral Home for all the love, support, and friendship. The Gibbs Family loves each of you and words cannot express their gratitude. May GOD Bless you all that loved and helped Faye in her life. She is now the Angel of Protection over so many and is the newest Angel Dancing in the Sky.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 2 P.M. at Macon Funeral Home in Franklin, NC. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Steve Barton, Bobby Smith, Greg Brown, Bill Sumner, Jack Hart, Keegan Barnes, Brad Fitch, and Brian Waller.
