Frank Dills, 86, of Franklin passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late William McKinley Dills and Cora Essie Ledford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Watts Dills and brother, Carl Dills. Frank was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II; a two time Purple Heart recipient and a Prisoner of War. He was involved in four major battles, to include the Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. Frank was a member of the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Frank is survived by one son, Owen Watts Dills of Lawrenceville, GA; one sister, Louise Sprinkle of Franklin; six brothers, Roy Lee “Barney” Dills of Lancaster, Penn, Bobby Dills of Dawsonville, GA, Jerry Dills of Winder, GA, Joe Dills of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Doug Dills of Monroe, GA and David Dills of Franklin.
Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Moffitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the 18th Airborne Corps Fort Bragg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be members of the 18th Airborne Corps Fort Bragg.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
