Obituary for Clarence E. "Red" Henry

Clarence E. "Red" Henry, 90, of Franklin, entered into rest on Thursday, July 14, 2005 in Fairview, NC.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late John B. and Vera Hudson Henry. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Gillespie. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII and saw action on Okinawa. He had a lifelong career in auto parts wholesale and retail sales. Red was a member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge No. 145 for more than 50 years and was past president of the Land of the Sky Shrine Club of Asheville. He was a tireless worker for the Shriner Children's Hospital and was an avid golfer for 70 years.

He is survived by three children, Libby Henry of Swannanoa, NC, Sara Cheney of Locust, NC and Johnny Henry of Florida; two granddaughters; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Judson Hall will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339,American Legion Post 108 and the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge 145.

A celebration of life will be in the chapel of Flesher's Fairview Rest Home, Friday, July 22, at 7 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, at Macon Funeral Home.
