Charles Anthony Shields, Jr., 76, of Franklin, died May 25, 2008.
Born in Franklin, he was the son of the late Charles Anthony and Elsie Duvall Shields. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Troy Shields. A gregarious man who never met a stranger, Charles graduated from Franklin High School, served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, and attended Georgia Institute of Technology. He worked in the construction industry before retirement.
Charles is survived by his children: Deborah Erdmanczyk, Cynthia McNeill and Catherine Vinson all of Atlanta, Georgia, Andrea Cranor of Cary, N.C., and Charles Shields III of Brunswick, GA ; sisters Pauline S. Houston, and Annie Lois Childers both of Franklin, twelve grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Lloyd Fish will officiate. The VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 will conduct military rites.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 Friday, at Macon Funeral Home.
