Obituary for Charles Edwin Johnston

Charles Edwin Johnston, 96, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008.

Born in Brilliant, OH, he was the son of the late Harry Johnston and Mary Cole Johnston. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Welsh Johnston. Charles attended Kent University and went to work for Republic Steel Company as a foreman. He then moved to Canal Zone where he worked in customs. Charles moved to Kissimmee, FL where he lived for 35 years and then retired to Franklin. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Franklin, NC. He belonged to the Panama Canal Society of Seminole, FL; The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, of Harding, Concordia and Cleveland, OH, from which he received his 65 years award. He was also a perpetual member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry in the Valley of Orlando Orient of Florida.

He is survived by daughter, Carol Ann Johnston of Franklin, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held in Florida at a later date.
