Obituary for Charles Dewey "C.D." Corbin

Charles Dewey "C. D." Corbin, Jr. born January 17, 1929, and son of the late Charles and Minnie Corbin of the Holly Springs Community, passed away after a brief illness at Angel Medical Center, Thursday, April 7, 2005.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grady William Corbin. Mr. Corbin was a deacon and usher at the First Baptist Church of Franklin and was an active participant of Campers on a Mission, and was also an active volunteer at the Lifeway Christian Conference Center in Ridgecrest, NC. He was a member of Helping Hands Organization for the Church. During his earlier years, he was very active in Little League Baseball, Basketball and Babe Ruth Baseball as a Coach. Also, he was a past officer in the Franklin Jaycees and was very active in community projects, and was known to everyone as C. D.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Margaret Loraine Angel Corbin; two sons, Larry Corbin and wife, Beverly, Keith Corbin and wife, Liz, both of Fayetteville, GA; three sisters, Dorothy Seagle and husband, Donald of Franklin, Mae Keeter and husband, Jack of Salisbury, NC, and Mildred Williamson and husband, Jim of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Corbin of San Antonio, TX, Angela Potts of Dalton, GA, Brian and Jennifer Corbin of Fayetteville, GA, Cheryl Serna of Buford, GA, Emily Ellington of Harrelson, GA, and Nick Barclay, USMC, stationed in Fallujah, Iraq; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Ball and Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate. Burial will be in the Holly Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., one hour prior to the Service, at the Church.

Pallbearers will be Grady Corbin Jr., Mark Corbin, William Henley, Lyman Holland, Tom McKay, Donnie Seagle, Randy Keeter, Johnny Waldroop and Gene Williamson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church Bykota Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, 69 Iotla Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
