Obituary for Carolyn Reed Speissegger (Reed)

Carolyn Reed  Speissegger (Reed)
Carolyn Reed Speissegger, 83, of Boca Raton, formerly of Franklin, departed this life April 1, 2008 at Hospice of the Palm Beaches, Delray Beach, Florida after a brief illness. Born in Carrollton, Missouri, she was the only child of the late Ceola Mae and Walter Reed. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Loose.

Prior to her move to Franklin, Carolyn managed the Florida School of Construction in Tampa, Florida. She was a former member of the Home Builder’s Association in both Tampa and Franklin. In Franklin, she first owned several rental units with McClure Mill Cottages, then later owned and operated A Touch of Country, a home décor business. She was later employed by The Christmas Shop in Franklin and The Merry Christmas Shop in Dillard, Ga. Carolyn lived in Franklin for more than 20 years before returning to Florida to live with her daughter and her family. She was a strong, independent woman who lived life to the fullest and had many good friends in Franklin and across the country.

She is survived by one daughter, Claudia McCormick and husband John of Boca Raton, Florida; two sons, Clifford Loose and wife Glenda of Otto, and Brian Loose and wife Vickie of Krum, Texas; six granddaughters, Rachel Eigen, Rebecca Eigen, Cortney Loose, Caitlin Loose, Maschera Loose and Breanna Loose.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 10, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Davis Hooper will officiate. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
