Obituary for Carl Gruber

Carl Richard Gruber, 75, of Franklin, entered into rest Saturday, January 22, 2005.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Carl J. and Dagmar Alm Gruber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Byrne Carl was a US Navy Korean War Veteran; Past Commander of American Legion Post 103 in Glen Ellyn IL; member of VFW Post 7339; he worked in real estate for ten years, retiring January 31, 2002; a lifetime member and past president of Franklin Lions Club; and a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joanne M. Gruber; two children, Deborah Krusen and husband, Wayne of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Richard C. Gruber and wife, Mary of Memphis, TN; two sisters, June Dine of Knox, IN, and Lois Gruber of Temecula, CA; and one brother Ronald R. Gruber of Glendale Heights, IL; four grandsons, Jonathon and Benjamin Krusen, James and Andrew Gruber.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 27, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Odum and Pastor Gary Brown.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, at Macon Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 70 Trimont View Drive, Franklin, NC 28734.
