Obituary for Burdell Christophel (Hurst)
Burdell Hurst Christophel, 89, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2006.
A native of Dalview Montana, she was the daughter of the late John C. Hurst and Mary Jenkins Hurst. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Matthews who died in 1945, her second husband, John Christophel who died in 1977; a grandson, Robert Matthews and one sister, Annie Hurst who died in 1992. Burdell worked twenty-five years as a secretary for Wyandotte General Hospital in Wyandotte, MI. She enjoyed basket weaving through Southwestern College; square dancing and was a volunteer at Angel Medical Center; a charter member of Resurrection Luthern Church and a member of Snowhill United Methodist Church; a member of Eastern Star Nequassa Chapter No. 43 in Franklin.
She is survived by her children, Ralph James Matthews of Southgate , MI, Roberta Bowman of Trenton, MI, Bonnie Puchala of Flat Rock, MI, Marilyn Bradley of Franklin, NC, Susan Rhoads of Mt. Clemens, MI Lynn Holbrook of Maryville, TN, and Jeri Hurst of Franklin, NC; brother, Ned Hurst of Highlands; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 15, at Snowhill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Barry Conover, Rev. Donna Cobb and Eastern Star Nequassa Chapter No. 43, will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 p.m. Sunday at Macon Funeral Home, prior to the service.
