Obituary for Bettye Coffeen

Bettye Jane Coffeen, 78, of Highlands, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009.
Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Matthews and Lucille Stroud Matthews. Bettye was a graduate of F.S.U. and was a school teacher in Miami, FL. She was instrumental in setting up the second Inner Wheel with Rotary in North Carolina; served as past president of the Inner Wheel Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas L. Coffeen; three children, Daniel Coffeen and Debra J. Coffeen both of Highlands and Diane Sackman of Buford, SC; one sister, Mary Lou Irwin of Miami, FL; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Highlands/Cashiers Hospital and Fidelia Eckerd Living Center, PO Box 190, Highlands, NC 28741.
