Obituary for Betty Jean Sanders
Betty Jean Sanders, formerly of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
Betty was born on March 23, 1931, to Howard Slone and Madge Ratliff Slone in Praise, Kentucky. She graduated from Elkhorn City High School in 1949. She married her best friend, Eugene Sanders, on June 9, 1949. They had 2 girls, Sara Lynn Bronson of North Palm Beach, FL and Mary Elaine Sanders (A.J. Schindler) of Oak Park, IL. Betty moved with her family to New Mexico for 1 year. Moving back to Kentucky in 1960 and onto Fort Pierce, FL in 1964. The Church of Christ became near and dear to her heart. She and Eugene were baptized in 1951 at Elkhorn City. They worked with the Franklin Church of Christ for 12 years. After Eugene's death, she moved to Palm Beach Gardens in 2005, where she has been a faithful member of the Palm Beach Lakes Church of Christ. She leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Aaron Eugene Bronson, Alissa Rose Haymin, and Ethan Marc Bronson, 7 great grandchildren and a host of friends. A memorial service for Betty Jean Sanders will be held at Northwood Funeral Home, Rivera Beach, FL, on Friday, April 21, at 11:30 am. A Luncheon will be provided at LaBamba Mexican Restaurant, at 1 pm.
In Franklin, NC, a private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
