Obituary for Bertie Mae Vinson (Ledford)

On Sunday morning, February 11, 2007 (God’s perfect time) at Angel Medical Center the King of Kings stepped on the portals of heaven and declared "Bertie Mae, my love, arise and come to me, for your winter is past, the rain is over and gone. Your new springtime is here.” Her reply was "My Beloved is Mine and I am His.”
A native of Otto, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Pearl Stamey Ledford. Mrs. Vinson was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Vinson; three brothers Charles Howard Ledford, Jack Dean Ledford, and George Allen Ledford; a daughter- in- law, Joyce Tallent Vinson: and a granddaughter, Michelle Leigh Vinson.
Survivors include three daughter and sons-in-law: Peggy and Terry Bradley of Mount Holly, NC, Teresa and Kevin Wiles of Iron Station, NC, and Susan and Harvey Conner of Otto, NC; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Vinson of Wagoner, OK, Clifford and Daphne Vinson of Burnsville, NC, and David and Konstantina Vinson of Otto, NC; fourteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers and sister-in-law, John Will and Margaret Ledford of Franklin, and Jimmy Ray Ledford of Franklin: three sisters and brother-in-law Sallie Wooten of Lexington, NC, Ruby Seaborn of Norris, SC, and Rachel and Van Gunter of Lexington, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews
She was a member of Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church, a homemaker, and a loving, dedicated mother. A former employee of the Older American’s Organization , she worked at the National Forest Service. After assuring her children’s education, she earned her GED at age sixty demonstrating her great belief in education.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, at Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Roy Lindsey, Rev. Danny Cannon and Rev. Harvey Conner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, at Macon Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers, John Bradley, Derick Turner, Dustin Turner, Evan Conner, Kevin Wiles, Stephen Stephens, Caleb Vinson and Kenneth Vinson.
Memorial donations may be made to the Otto Volunteer Fire Dept., 60 Firehouse Road, Otto, NC 28763.
