My deepest sympathy to the Duke family for all the support and guidance while I was in Franklin, NC. Mr. Duke assisted me a great deal during my tenure at LBJCCC. The lessons and mentoring he taught me help me to this day at my present duty station here in Connecticut. God bless Alva Duke and his entire great family.

Alva is remembered fondly in the learning assistance area of Southwestern Community College. He helped so many to succeed and always kept a positive attitude. It is fitting that his daughter now is an SCC student. Keeping you all in prayer.

I still remember the first time I met Alva in the halls of SCC in Webster. We were the tallest men in the hallway!

Dear Alva's family and dear daughter, I fell in love with this sweet mans soul the first time I met him, we all did here at the lab. From his big welcoming smile to his beautiful, rich voice, he was truly a Gentle Giant among men.
I hope you can find some peace through these hard days in knowing that people thought Alva was truly a wonderful human being.
It was a pleasure caring for him in such a small way as drawing his blood. It broke my heart the last time he was in...he struggled so hard to walk to the chair, but he did it!
This earth has truly lost a beautiful, sweet soul. You all are in my prayers.

We are so sorry for your loss. I worked with Alva many years ago at LBJ. He was always a good man who cared for everyone around him. May God bring the family peace and comfort during this time of loss.
