Obituary for Adam L. Smith
Adam Leonard Smith, 87, of Franklin, entered into rest on Monday, September 26, 2005.
A native of Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Adam L. Smith and Carrie Taylor Smith. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Emma "Ellie" Smith who died February 6, 2005 and four sisters. He was a US Marine Corp. veteran of WWII and retired after 39 years from R.L. Bryan Co., Columbia, SC where he worked as a printer. Adam was a member of Cowee Baptist Church and a member of the Earlewood Masonic Lodge, Columbia, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Bannister Smith; two sons, Frank L. Smith of West Columbia, SC and Robert Donald Smith of Franklin; one daughter, Jane S. Privette of Hartsville, SC; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 30, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Shawn Edwards, Rev. Jim Kinard and Rev. William C. Solomon will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Friday, at Macon Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6301 Bryson City Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
