Alma Hastings McClure, 86, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Wymer Hastings and Mattie Ledford Hastings. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard McClure who died in 2003; son William Ellis McClure who died in 2003; brother, Freeman Hastings; and seven sisters, Leona DeHart Cansler, Arizona Tallent, Ova Ledford, Orpha Ledford, Edith Mason, Alice Hastings and Edna Hastings. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Alma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving ways.

She is survived by five children, Sam McClure and wife Patti, Barbara Raby and special friend, Will Gibson, Charles McClure, John McClure, Linda Hughes and husband David all of Franklin; daughter-in-law, Shirley McClure of Elberton, GA; fifteen grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Alton Dendy and Rev. Josh Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 10, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Skip Salenius, Chad Salenius, Mark McClure, Tim McClure, Ben Henson, Ryan Raby, Byron McClure, Alan Crawford and Scott Perone.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 142 Pleasant Hill Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
