Joan Alice Hofmann, 85, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Born in Lafgren, VA, she was the daughter of the late Algie B. Murphy and Lillian Lawrence Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hofmann; infant son, Robert Hilker and sisters and brothers, Rosalee Flowers, Algie Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Gerald Murphy and Joyce Brady. Joan was an executive secretary for the Geological Survey in Washington, DC. She attended St. Cecelia Catholic Church. 820 Jasmine Way, Clearwater, FL 33756. Joan was very charitable, supporting children’s funds, humane societies and many other organizations. She loved animals, bingo and traveling.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Teresa D. Pratt of Franklin, Charles B. Jones of Pinnellas Park, FL, Michael D. Brady of Deland, FL, Debra Franker of Moncks Corner, SC and Johnny Murphy of Bonneau, SC; cousins, Suzanne Trammel of Battle Creek, MI, Kirkland Grenlund of Rockville, MD, Patricia Laurmann of Huntingtown, MD and Bruce Murphy of Carlisle, PA; special niece, Tracy Hoblit; multiple other nieces and nephews and her outstanding caregivers, Jane Smith, Becky Sanders and Kristin Flowers.

Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 21st at Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 23rd at Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens Chapel, Palm Harbor, FL. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Interment will be in the Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.
