Obituary for Cordelia Kirkland Russell (Kirkland)

Cordelia Kirkland Russell, 90, of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Born in Swain Co, NC, she was the daughter of the late Fred Kirkland and Lucinda Jenkins Kirkland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Jenkins in 1950 and her second husband, James Russell in 1992; grandson, Thomas Collins; granddaughter, Laura Ann Russell; brothers, Floyd and LeRoy Kirkland and sister, Rosa Lee Russell. Cordelia loved to garden and spend time with her family. She loved God first and family second and was a devoted member of West Franklin Church.

She is survived by nine children, George Jenkins and wife Sue of Franklin, Mary Sue Bettis of Otto, Hazel Allen and husband Steve of Franklin, Kathie Ann Mills and husband D.J. of Stockbridge, GA, Janie Key of Otto, Lee Russell and wife Vernie of Franklin, Fred “Toot” Russell of Franklin, Earl Russell and wife Lula of Franklin and Gene Russell and wife Mary of Clayton, AL; nine brothers and sisters, Ethel Walker, Nancy Russell, Louise Hurst, Ann Lois Shepherd, Annie Belle Smith, Willie Hovis and Dorothy Reddish all of Franklin and Wiley Kirkland of Flint, MI; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Don Bates, Rev. Jeremy Gibbs and Rev. Lee Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6th at Macon Funeral Home.

Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers.
