Obituary for Richard Vincent Jordan
Richard Vincent Jordan, 78, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
Born in Dover, NJ, he was the son of the late Vincent and Elsa Kleibrink Jordan. Richard was raised in upstate New York and served in the US Air Force. He received a degree in Economics from Drew University and worked for House Hold Finance, where he met his first wife, Mary. In 1968 they moved to Franklin, NC and in 1972 he received his Master’s degree from WCU in Special Education. Richard retired in 2002, after 34 years as a teacher at Franklin High School. He was a former member of Gem Capital Auto Club, FHS Boosters Club, Kiwanis Club and Gem Capital Knife Club. Richard was also a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Shirley Jordan; three sons, Jeff Jordan and Tami Koney of Franklin, Vince Jordan and Linda Cooper of Franklin and Sean Jordan and Katerina of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; one sister, Jaque Stiles of Stone Ridge, NY; his first wife, Mary Sanderson of Seneca, SC and four grandchildren, Jeremy Scott Jordan and Joseph Nelson Jordan both of Franklin and Vincent Aristides Serlemitsos Jordan and Isabella Theodora Serlemitsos Jordan both of Ontario, Canada.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Snow Hill United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hospice House Foundation, PO Box 815, Franklin, NC 28744.
The family would like to thank Debra Strum and the entire staff at Grandview Manor for their extra special care.
