Condolence From: Elisabeth (Libby) Thornton
Condolence: Thank all of you Very Much for your words of deepest caring, love and support for my sister, Molly, and our family. I know so many of you who were in school with my sister, or knew her otherwise, here in Winston-Salem. You have brought back happy memories! I have met a few of you in Franklin, and I am so grateful to you for giving Molly the love and joy of friendship during her many years of living in such a beautiful place. If I may speak for my family -- Molly's son, Len, his wife, Jen, and their children Steven and Kathleen (whom my sister ADORED); step-brother, Cal, his wife, Lou, and their daughter, Ruth; brother Tom's and his wife, Nicka's children, Tommy, Shelby and Mick and their families; and our beloved cousins -- we are enormously grateful for how well you loved our Precious Molly.

Condolence: Hearing that Molly passed away made me pause and reflect on those times decades ago when we were neighbors and friends at Whitaker Elementary then RJR. In fact, we stumbled through our 'first date' together when we went to Mrs. Baylin's Cotillion Dance - how nervous and awkward we must have been, but how ready we were for that rite of passage. It was a special reward to know a person as genuine and kind as Molly. To Steve and all her family, I'm truly saddened as I know you are. Be strong.

Condolence: My sincerest condolences for Molly's passing. We were only classmates at RJR, but I clearly remember Molly as a friendly person with an infectious smile. When I started at RJR in the Fall of 1960 I spoke no English yet Molly and many other classmates made me feel at ease which helped me make a smooth transition to anew country. May the Lord keep her at His side. Chris Kroustalis

Condolence: I first remembered Molly as Tom's little sister. When hanging out at their house, Molly was always vibrant and interested in what kind of trouble Tom and I had planned for the day. Fortunately I was able to spend some quality time with her and Steve at the last two high school reunions. We laughed about the "good old days" and how blessed we were to have such wonderful friends. My thoughts and prayers are with Molly and her family.

Condolence: We want to express our most sincere sympathy to you and your family. Molly was one of the most generous, loving and kind people it has been our good fortune to know. She was there to offer assistance to our family when we most needed it. She gave of herself willingly and lovingly and we will never forget her unselfish kindness and generosity. Molly was always full of good-hearted exuberance when she greeted us. We never knew her to complain. It saddens us deeply to learn she has passed. Her life shines on as a vibrant light to those of us who had the privilege to know her.

Condolence: I was so sorry to hear about Molly's passing. Since we both lived in Merrimont in high school I always think of her whenever I go past her house. I loved seeing her at our 50th reunion. Although I know she was having problems then she was so very cheerful and lovely. My condolences to all of her family.

Condolence: Steve, what sorrow I just felt as I read the notice from RJ Reynolds notice of Molly's death!! I love Molly so very much. She was such a wonderful friend!! I so had wanted to call her for such a long time, but the last time I did call her, she didn't really remember who I was. It was a sad call for me!! As you know, her family was so very special to me and my dear "Angel." Tommy was the first boy I kissed - and I still remember it. I was 15 and scared to death!! LOL Dr. Ogburn financed my first car and let me pay him back as I could afford as a graduate student all the way down here in Florida. And then they gave me and Gene "Angel" our wedding reception that was such a lovely event!! Then of course there is you who I always considered a really good friend - since you were dating and then married my really good friend!! Please know that I love you and am praying that God will give you great grace and strength during this really most difficult time.

Condolence: My sincerest sympathy in your loss of a truly wonderful woman. My mother, Betty Gibbs, worked with Steve and Molly at Siler & Philo in the late '70s. I had the pleasure of working with Molly when she worked for George and Jeannette Meek. She was a light in the lives of all who had the good fortune to meet her.

Condolence: So sad to hear of Molly's passing. I first met her in Mrs. Coffey's eight-grade class at Reynolds High School. She made me, an Ardmore student, feel more comfortable in the big new school. While we didn't keep in touch until the high-school reunions became regular, it was like old times from the first time we saw each other again. Resquiat in Pacem.

Condolence: My heart sank with such sadness when I read of Molly's passing. She and I were friends years ago in Sunday School at Centenary Methodist Church. She was so genuine and friendly. I didn't attend the high school that almost everyone else did. Molly's kindness and welcoming presence made that difference less important.

Condolence: Oh Molly. When I first saw this I was immediately, mentally taken back to the Belleview Community in November 1977. We just moved down from NJ and I was a bit worried. Until, that is, until my family met Molly Philo. We didn't know her, but I knew our move would be OK because Molly, ever the optimist, said it would be OK. That was Molly. Just like the obituary stated, Molly always wanted to make other people happy. That was what made her happy. Even in her declining years, Molly was still Molly. Making other people feel happy, liked and special. There just aren't that many people left like Molly. We will sadly miss Molly but know that where she is now, she is 100% back to the Molly we all knew and loved for so many years. Thinking of you guys Steve and Len. Thank you for sharing Molly with us.

Condolence: Sending love and light to the family of Molly Thornton Philo. Her mother (my great Aunt Ruth and my godmother) was proud of Molly and her kindness and many accomplishments on behalf of others. What a wonderful legacy for Molly and her family. May she rest in peace.

Condolence: I am grateful to God for Molly....we met an aerobics class and then found out we were both going to SCC. And that we were both in recovery.. Years later, when I had relapsed, I was able to be honest with her without fear of judgement. Without that, I may not have been able to get sober again. I loved Molly, and knew she loved me. Special, much beloved woman!

Condolence: I will always remember Molly for her friendly and giving personality. She drove me to the top of Cowed Mountain after a surgery to get my Daddy a box of fudge to give him for his birthday. She made you feel like she had known her for a long time. She was a lovely lady. I will miss her

Condolence: I was so sorry to hear about Molly's passing. I remember her from my days working in the Tax Office. She was always happy with that big smile, but most of all she took time to stop and speak to everyone. Her friendliness and smile I'll always remember.
