Obituary for Beulah "Liz" Elizabeth Graham (Graham)

Beulah "Liz" Elizabeth Graham (Graham)
Beulah Elizabeth “Liz” Graham, 73 of Brunswick, GA, left this physical world on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. The fourth child of Mary Jo Elmore Graham and Olin “Pop” Graham, she was born at home on Depot St in Franklin, NC on December 22, 1943. She inherited her father’s love of music and her mother’s “green thumb” for growing beautiful flowers.

Beulah, as she was known through school days, attended Cartoogechaye Elementary and graduated from Franklin High School in 1962. She attended Louisa Chapel Church, where her father “Pop” Graham played the piano and led the singing, and grew up in the old house just across the road from the church.
Despite her premature birth and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, she was fearless and determined to keep up with her brothers and sisters, “tagging along” and climbing trees to the very top.
In the 70’s her love of music drew her to work at Grant’s Lounge in Macon, GA, known as the Original Home of Southern Rock. There she witnessed the rise of the Allman brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Wet Willie, and Tom Petty. She was caught in a snapshot with the Marshall Tucker Band and was interviewed for a documentary on Macon’s 1970’s music scene. Edward Grant Sr was crazy about Liz and she will be greatly missed by the folks at Grant’s who knew her as family.
Liz’s only child, Daniel “Bo” Olympiadis (previously known as “Bo” Wood) attended Macon County schools and retired as Technical Sargent after serving 20 years in the US Air Force. She deeply loved her family, nursing and caring for her Mother, Grandmother and Aunt in their last days.

Fiercely proud of her independence, Liz lived for many years in Brunswick, Ga, where she enjoyed fishing with her young friend Cody Baxley and loved exploring the Georgia beaches with friends and family. She loved animals and frequently helped to nurture and to heal strays, sometimes taking them in as her own.
To her nieces and nephews, Liz was Aunt “Boo Boo”, and could be as much a friend as an aunt. They saw her as a very honest, straight-from-the-hip person, who never had a false relationship. She always talked to children as people first, loved to play games, and had a genuine smile and an authentic laugh. The friends she made in Franklin, Macon, and Brunswick were like family to her.

In addition to her mother and father, Liz was preceded in death by brothers James “Jimmy” Graham and Glenn Graham. Surviving relatives include her son, Daniel “Bo” Olympiadis of Illinois, sister Lorraine Rowland (husband Dan) of Macon, GA, and Claire Graham of Franklin, NC, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Liz will be laid to rest at Louisa Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with services at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 16th with Rev Andy Cloer officiating. Visitation will be at Louisa Chapel Methodist Church from 2pm to 3pm on Sunday, just before the funeral service.

Tributes may be in memorial through a donation to any Homeless Animal Shelter or Animal Charity.
